guard your heart

had a long heart-to-heart talk wif cuzy John last nite..
he even prayed a prayer for me.
i was very touched i teared.

it was very heart-warming and sincere. so genuine.
thank u cuz for that chat. i really needed it.
u've always been my reality check. but we hvnt had such conversations in a really really long time.
at least 1 thing's for sure, we still hv that bond.
and i thank God for that.

thanks for listening and thanks for understanding.
on top of it all, thanks for not judging.

i do realise i hvnt been very Christ-like in recent yrs.. mayb the past 1 plus yr or so.
thats sad. very sad.
but now that i've noticed it. it's time to turn things ard.
a change of lifestyle perhaps.
i need a direction and i tink only God can help me.
i believe he will help me.

he's been my guiding light, my guiding star.
without him, i am nothing.

i like this phrase: "guard your heart"
it's true. if u dun guard ur own heart, who will?
u are accountable and responsible for urself at the end of the day.
never blame anyone or anything when smthg bad happens.
humility is a virtue. i sure hope i have some of that.

striving to be Christ-like isnt going to be easy. but nevertheless i must endeavour.
"my yoke is easy, and my burden is light"
this is wad im constantly being reminded of.
if Jesus can die for our sins so painfully and willingly, why cant we carry our little crosses?
why keep complaining and blaming God?

i need to learn to trust and put my whole faith in God once again.
i noe it is difficult but i must do it.
as my favourite hymn goes: "but it goes against the way i am, to put my human nature down, and let the spirit take control of all i do. but when those trials come, my human nature, shouts the things to do, and God's soft prompting can be easily ignored."

the whole entire song is just so beautiful and it describes exactly what i am, and how i think.
i shall be in search of the lyrics and post it once i get my hands on them.
im off to bed now it's gonna be quite a long week ahead!
i wonder wads in store! :)
projects that's for sure! haa.
time to catch up on studying too.
no time to lose!

goodnite! (",)

Raffles snippets

i just simply love the chandlier and staircase. it looks so ol' skool. really pretty.

SBG moments

sentimental moments

it has been such an awesome experience to be able to lead a group of 14 Greek tourists to a few places of interest in Singapore. it is really very different to look at Singapore when ure seated in a bus full of tourists, explaining to them brief history of Singapore and pointing out all the different sights around.
cheesy as dis may sound, but suddenly it made me so proud to be a Singaporean. esp yesterday.

altho there were many hiccups on friday when they 1st arrived in Spore. but i believe there were certain other spirit-lifting experiences that helped made things better.
thankfully we have some nice Singaporeans to make their visit more pleasant.

the grp consisted of both young and old, ranging from honey-mooners to elderly couples ard 40's to 50's age range... it's so heartwarming to see their enthusiasm as well as their interest. they asked many questions which werent difficult to answer, thankfully! haa.

one of the places we visited was the Singapore Botanic Gardens & National Orchid Garden. flowers are known to cheer people up. esp us girls. =P
it somehow helped mend some of my emotional damage.
then again, the half day spent with dem did help take my mind of things.
i'll upload some pix i took along the walk to the National Orchid Garden...
moments i captured that made me smile a little smile to myself - the beauty of the earth; soothes the soul =)

thanks uncle chan for this wonderful experience! :)
i'm so glad i did this.
hopefully there will be more to come. the experience is smthg money cant buy.
esp seeing the happy faces of tourists. this is fulfilling.
i am so glad to be of service to them. now i am renewed in my faith and endeavour for the tourism industry! yesss!

Audrey Hepburn / Moon River

i just finished watching the 1961 classic - Breakfast At Tiffany's.
i have to say it's an awesome movie.
i've always wanted to watch it but din seem to be determined enough to get my hands on it.
now finally!

i understand now, why pple r so hung up over Audrey Hepburn. i tink i've fallen for her too!
she is gorgeous. really beautiful lady.
may she rest in peace.

the movie was lovely. wad a touching story.
finding true love. not just for money, status and wealth.
but love in its purest kind. 2 pple belonging to each other.
so romantic isnt it? haha!
well this only happens in the movies these days.

before watching the movie, i came across this song, Moon River by Henry Mancini.
when i 1st listened to it, i could say i was kinda captivated by the music and tune.
on top of that, the lyrics is so romantic and touching.
so here goes...
"Moon River, wider than a mile, I'm crossing you in style some day.
Oh, dream maker, you heart breaker, wherever you're going I'm going your way.
Two drifters off to see the world.
There's such a lot of world to see.
We're after the same rainbow's end--
waiting 'round the bend,
my huckleberry friend,
Moon River and me."

it's just so cute how she seeks solace at a Tiffany and Co. shop down the streets of 1960's New York. just standing outside the huge shop, browsing bcos she knows she cant afford any of the items in there. seeing them just makes her feel better somehow.
very cute show. i'm just so glad i watched it.
my sunday is complete. =)

feminism

i think one day i might just join a feminist movement.

fem·i·nism –noun
1. the doctrine advocating social, political, and all other rights of women equal to those of men.
2. (sometimes initial capital letter) an organized movement for the attainment of such rights for women.
3. feminine character.

because the men don't get it....

now we know why there are increasing amounts of lesbians around the world.
GO GAY COMMUNITY!!! fight for ur rights!

1st 2 days of my last semester

i've had noon class yesterday and today.
wif a lovely RMIT lady prof.
she's a hottie for sure. esp wif her quite cool aussie accent.
sweetness.

hopefully i'm able to sneak a pic tmr during lecture...
she has stirred my interest in Managing Change.
it is quite a boring subject. but it is a necessity.
a cross between mgmt and HR mod.
so nthg too foreign to me.

however, the only down side to this module is the dozens of frameworks, matrixes, diagrams and tables/charts that plot out how to manage change and the whole learning process.
reminds me of my gd ol' buddy mintzberg wif his organisational configurations and predictions ......................................... and
Lewin's force field analysis etc... these dudes are genuises. haha. and must have been really bored too? =X

so it's time to get down and dirty in search of articles online on managing change for my assignment. i hope this is the start of smthg good and positive. time to hit the libraries soon too! welcome back sch life! :) it's the last 4mths of it. i hope it will be memorable.

the pursuit of happyness

i just finished watching a movie 'The Pursuit of Happyness'.
it's such a touching show, adapted from a true story.
the love of a parent and the will to succeed and survive.
his hard work did pay off. for the sake of himself and his son. he made it. he slogged.
his son trusted him no matter wad. no matter how ignorant/naive/innocent the young boy may be given his age, he still trusted his dad. his life was in his dad's hands.
his wife however, didnt know how to trust her husband anymore. she left san fran where they lived to go to new york to seek a new life and a new job.
she, on the other hand, cudnt trust her husband. she didnt wanna stick ard.
it is tough i can imagine. to entrust ur heart and life to ur significant other.
however, isnt tt how love is?
mysterious and risky. being in love is a gamble. it is all abt managing risks.
can u manage it?
it is not abt controlling or dictating. it's abt compromising and supporting.
would you support ur husband if there shud be a problem in his life?
would you stick ard? or would you choose to escape?
decisions decisions decisions. choosing to stick ard is easier said than done, esp in down periods, definately.
but do remember, it was a choice u made to marry that person in the 1st place. thru thick and thin, happy times and sad, in sickness and health.
the movie did help me realise smthg. loving unconditionally is really really difficult. cos inevitably, everyone is selfish. whether we like it or not, face it, we are humans afterall, narcissistic individuals.

think about this...
how hard is it for a person to be happy?
does happiness = contentment?

how do you know when you are truly happy?
how does one measure happiness?
does success = happiness?

wad is your happiness, what is your idea of happiness and how do you think you will go about achieving it?
smthg to think about perhaps...

as time and life passes swiftly by, there's alot of things and pple we often take for granted. intentionally or unintentionally.
it is difficult to make sense of it all. esp when most of us are always caught up with our own lives, interests, committment and responsibilities.
the inner battle begins when we stop admist our busy schedules and start reflecting; looking back into things that were said and done.
that's also when reality sets in and possibly regrets and emotions.

so much for carpe diem - seize the day...
how much of it can we truly seize?
how many of us actually believe in conducting reality checks from time to time?
and who do we choose to assist us with that?

some pple think they can jolly well do it themselves, but really, can they?
i always believe that we need a 3rd person's perspective. not just our own.
who are we to judge anybody, let alone ourselves.
both micro and macro perspectives are an integral part of our entire "vision" or mentality.
both are equally important and we must ensure nvr to leave any one of them out.
that is why we need another person, a close fren, someone we can trust in confidence and all honesty to not judge or betray us, to help & guide us thru our thot process/flow.

some may question, wads the pt of thinking so much? just live and let live rite?
well my answer to that is, thinking is a way of learning. a way of self-improvement. a way to grow and a way to satisfy doubts/queries.
im sure everyone wants to work towards the betterment of themselves isnt it?
i heard this statement last nite, it is not a direct quote. but it goes smthg like this: everyone can pull off an average/be an average; but it takes effort to be at either extreme ends of the spectrum.
i cant help but agree. this is so evident in our society tdy.

well, enough rambling for me.
as usual im jus "penning" my thots.

good reads

i find myself being a wee bit crazy over story books these days.
i think this shall be my new hobby! *chuckles*

found myself walking into MPH one fine day wif qin-a-lings and we spent quite a while in there scouting for good reads.
i made a not-so-surprising discovery abt my girlfren. she completes a novel in like a few days! when i say a few days i mean like 2 - 3 days! like crazy rite? mayb thats why she was in GEP and not me. haha.

she can read real fast man. its scary.
well thats cause i read real SLOW.
slower then my cuzy and definately much slower then most.
omg! maybe im dyslexic! hmmmm.. i've always sucked big time at math and i read/study super slow. so that's where i draw my conclusion. haha.

anyohow... yup so i have a few story books currently which have not been read. i'm three quads thru my latest buy frm Times. 'Simply Irresistable' is the title. indeed it has been. it's easy to read. every detail and adjective used is so descriptive and they become so vivid.
absolutely love it! :)
and i must say the story is touching and erm pretty sexual... haha. abt lust, relationships and such.

i'm looking forward to the ending! will be meeting my darling cuzy tmr for a "reading" session which we postponed frm the last time.
looking forward to complete this read. =)

i also came across this book by Paulo Coelho - The Witch of Portobello.
hope i can get my hands on it.
others also such as 'Golfing with God' by Roland Merullo
Jodi Picoult's - My Sister's Keeper, Vanishing Acts, Second Glance, Mercy

i must go get clear wrap to wrap my paperback books! shall do that tmr!
well i shall save up for these books! :)

im jus hoping my enthusiasm for reading doesnt fizzle out! keep it going! woohoo!
reading is fun! esp nw tt im on hols! keep myself occupied.

so peeps, try picking out a gd read. it will help keep you grounded and take ur mind of the harsh realities of life from time to time. steal time away from our busy schedules jus to be by ourself and quietly read or adopt a reading buddy. how awesome is that.

I Will

my new cousin-in-law sang this song below to his bride (my cousin)
super duper touching man.
he sings not bad. must give him lotsa credit for courage and effort! :)
but really, this song is very nice.
lyrics below are from The Beatles apparently..
a few other singers did a cover of it too.
but i like it olllll' skooolllll ;)

Who knows how long I've loved you
You know I love you still
Will I wait a lonely life time
If you want me to I will

For if I ever saw you I didn't catch your name
But it never really mattered
I will always feel the same

Love you forever and forever
Love you with all my heart
Love you whenever we're together
Love you when we're apart

And when at last I find you
Your song will fill the air
Sing it loud so I can hear you
Make it easy to be near you
For the things you do endear you to me
And you know I will
I will
Ooo, la
